The switch cover has a bit of texture and is proud enough that it’s easy to find. It’s also not so proud or soft that it will easily activate accidentally. I couple of things right off the top here: I love the new switch cover. It’s bigger (comparatively really “much” bigger) and I love that. This increases usability greatly. Also, while I wouldn’t say that the clip change confers any difference in usability, but it somehow feels more solid. A battery level indicator built into the side switch that lets you know when the battery needs charging. A green light indicates above 60% power, an orange light indicates 10-60 % power, a red light indicates less than 5-10% power and a red blinking light means less than 5% power and that the torch needs to be charged.

It has a very easy user interface. Just press the button on the recessed side switch to turn it on. Hold the button to scroll through power outputs. Baton 3 Pro Max Lighting As can be seen from the above, Baton 3 Pro is superior to Baton 3 and S2R Baton II in lighting brightness, beam range and running time, and the original price difference between the three products is not much (now during O-Fan Day, the price of Baton 3 is reduced by 30%). Taken together, it is clear that the Baton 3 Pro is more cost-effective. The all-new Olight Baton 3 Pro has all the new features and improvements with a negligible increment of dimensions. They’re as follows: Brighter & More Powerful: Powered by a 5000mAh battery, it delivers a max. output of 2,500 lumens and a max. runtime of 60 days, providing you with enough light for any activity. It’s an indicating switch, as I said above, too. It can indicate in green, red, and orange (seen above). The rest of the light is fairly standard. Batons are great! I’m a massive fan of Batons. This one is good, too, and I’m super pleased to be able to have neutral white. Long Review The Big Table Olight Baton 3 Pro flashlight I couple of things right off the top here: I love the new switch cover offered on all these Baton 3 Pros. It’s bigger (comparatively really “much” bigger) and I love that. This increases usability greatly. Also, while I wouldn’t say that the clip change confers any difference in usability, but it somehow feels more solid. This was one area of improvement I even pinpointed in a Baton 3 review. So, it’s nice to see how Olight continues to serve the customers’ needs very well. Upgraded Proximity Sensor: The optical system has been optimized, allowing the hidden proximity sensor to help protect you without being oversensitive or affecting the light's beam pattern. (Can be turned off)

For reference, here’s a baseline shot, with all the room lights off and almost nothing hitting the sensor. Also, here’s the light with the worst PWM I could find. I’m adding multiple timescales, so it’ll be easier to compare to the test light. Unfortunately, the PWM on this light is so bad that it doesn’t even work with my normal scale, which is 50 microseconds (50us). 10ms. 5ms. 2ms. 1ms. 0.5ms. 0.2ms. In a display faster than 0.2ms or so, the on/off cycle is more than one screen, so it’d just (very incorrectly) look like a flat line. I wrote more about this Ultrafire WF-602C flashlight and explained a little about PWM too. User Interface and Operation of the Olight Baton 3 Pro Silver Ridge Flashlight I like the sealed nature of the Olight Baton 3 charging system. I’ll have to remember the cable if I take the Baton 3 on travel. Some might like the universality of a USB-C port on a flashlight or built into the battery. I’m not often a cable loser, so the Olight system is ok with me. Multifunctional Magnetic Tail: Fully charged in only 4 hours by using the MCC3 USB magnetic charging cable, easy and convenient to attach the flashlight to the metal L-shape stand after use.I’d think twice before using the Olight Baton 3 Pro flashlight or most strobing flashlights as a breakdown warning light on the highway, or as a bicycle headlight strobe. A rapid frequency strobe is at a minimum, distracting and irritating, but could be seizure-inducing in some individuals. And I know strobe is sometimes marketed as a weapon but I hope you’ll reconsider that perspective. If the Baton 3 had a slower frequency strobe I’d use it on my bike. But it would work well as an ‘always on’ bike light. Keep in mind that the Baton 3 Pro is an upgrade from the S2R Baton II and is the best option compared to the Baton 3 and Baton Pro. Want more time to run the light? Drop down to level three, or 120 lumens, and the light runs for an impressive 23 hours. For most close-in work, I found that level three is very suitable.

As always, my recommendation is to buy the Baton 3 Pro from the official Olight store. Here’s the link you want to follow. There’s no point in buying an EDC if the battery doesn’t last a few days. But Olight’s S1R lasts around 7-8 days with one full charge. Knowing the industry, this price is likely to rise with the usual high demand for Olight. Recommended Place to Buy If it’s red, it means the charge is less than 10%. Orange if it’s between 10% and 60% and green if the charge is above 60%. Impressive Battery Life I measured an impressive 4805 lumens at turn on, 4684 lumens after 30 seconds which it held until around a minute in. It then dropped slowly to 1200 lumens after 2.5 minutes which it held fairly constantly for over an hour.

What I like

As far as I can tell, this user interface is the same as previous Batons – the S2R Baton II, for example. In addition to the differences listed in the table above, the Baton 3 Pro has also upgraded a lot of design features on the S2R Baton II, now let's take a look at what other upgrade points are: Olight spec 4600 lumens dropping to the torches 1200 lumen high mode after 2.5 minutes and then 600 lumens for the remaining 25 minutes.

The arms of this clip are much larger than on previous generations, too. This provides a much firmer attachment! In fact, it’s very firm.

What is it

More User-Friendly Interface: The enlarged and recessed side switch is now even easier to operate, while simultaneously reducing the chance of accidental activation, providing an improved user experience. Too many flashlights come with no battery level indicators. It’s mainly because it complicates the circuit design. But it’s this indicator that saves your battery low-voltage damage. I’ve had success using a little magnet in the recessed terminal, but even then these batteries are oversized with their protection circuitry so the only charger I have that fits them is the XTAR SC1 Plus. They won’t fit in my SkyRC MC3000.
