In my review for The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, I opened by discussing the difficulties of discussing a classic piece of cinema. Dick and his impressions of the film as well as the many interviews with other filmmakers who are devout fans of Blade Runner. There is also a slight dullness to the dialogue; it lacks the fidelity of modern audio recording for cinema, very much a sign of the film’s age. Even in its zillion different forms that suffered a zillion different alterations (The added/subtracted narration! The biggest compliment I can pay to "Dangerous Days" is that despite the punishing runtime, I didn't look at my watch once.

For the week that ended on January 20th, Warner Home Entertainment's Blade Runner 2049 premiered at the top of the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts. Note: 2K score updated to reflect clarifications to scoring categories since this review was first published. So all I’ll say here is that it’s simply one of the greatest - and best looking - sci-fi films ever made; a stunning and remarkably timeless reminder of just what a visionary director Sir Ridley Scott was back in his relative youth. Despite their capacity for brutal violence, their childlike innocence and view of the world is perfect for this story.Sir Ridley Scott's Blade Runner, starring Harrison Ford, is one of the most important science-fiction movies of the 20th Century -- the film with immeasurable influence on society for its futuristic depiction of a post-apocalyptic, dystopian world, a film perhaps more powerful and relevant today than when it was made.

Even better, the sequences with the removed narration have been tightened up (they never played properly without the voice-over), and the effects have been cleaned up considerably (including print imperfections and on-set gaffes, such as visible wires on the spinner vehicles). Ridley Scott's Blade Runner is such an important piece of film history, that it almost speaks for itself whenever being mentioned. It’s a dreamy, meditative tale that ponders the nature of existence, human or otherwise, with frequent bouts of melancholy. For the week that ended on February 3rd, Warner Home Entertainment's Blade Runner 2049 stayed on top of the Blu-ray-only media chart. The intensity really is just staggering at times, especially with the shots of the external city streets.

Setting a new standard for Blu-ray releases and supplemental material, Blade Runner seems to have just about every conceivable extra imaginable in this set. Visually spectacular, intensely action-packed and powerfully prophetic since its debut, Blade Runner dazzles in Ridley Scott's definitive Final Cut, including extended scenes and special effects. The Blu-ray lets that world envelop and encompass you without flaw, without any reminder that you’re just watching a movie.
